Part of the Ride the Hallyu Wave series, this screening features The Loneliest Whale: The Search for 52. The documentary follows the search for a unique whale calling at 52 hertz, a pitch unreachable by any other known species.

That creature's solitary existence served as the core inspiration for the 2015 BTS song Whalien 52, which used the whale as a metaphor for the alienation and loneliness felt by young people whose voices go unheard. Through that track, the 52-hertz whale became an enduring symbol among BTS fans for finding community even when feeling like an alien in the world.

The 2021 film is rated PG, runs for 96 minutes, and will be presented with English closed captions (CC) in Latino Room A/B.
